Normalizing unwanted color variations due to differences in stainingprocesses and scanner responses has been shown to aid machine learning incomputational pathology.Of the several popular techniques for colornormalization, structure preserving color normalization (SPCN) iswell-motivated, convincingly tested, and published with its code base.However,SPCN makes occasional errors in color basis estimation leading to artifactssuch as swapping the color basis vectors between stains or giving a coloredtinge to the background with no tissue.We made several algorithmicimprovements to remove these artifacts.Additionally, the original SPCN code isnot readily usable on gigapixel whole slide images (WSIs) due to long runtimes, use of proprietary software platform and libraries, and its inability toautomatically handle WSIs.We completely rewrote the software such that it canautomatically handle images of any size in popular WSI formats.Our softwareutilizes GPU-acceleration and open-source libraries that are becomingubiquitous with the advent of deep learning.We also made several other smallimprovements and achieved a multifold overall speedup on gigapixel images.Ouralgorithm and software is usable right out-of-the-box by the computationalpathology community.机器学习论文:用于数字病理学的快速GPU启用颜色标准化(Fast GPU-Enabled Color Normalization for Digital Pathology) khJTOe5TkXJHe719.jpg
